The structure of our cylindrical lithium cells includes a shell, cap, positive electrode, negative electrode, PTC element, safety gasket, and valves. The casing of the battery is constructed with nickel-plated steel. The entire casing acts as the negative electrode, while the top cap serves as the positive electrode.
What Makes Our Cylindrical Battery Cells Safe?
Our cylindrical cells are equipped with best safety mechanisms that include pressure vent, Current Interrupt Device, and Positive Temperature Coefficient. A pressure vent is a weak point designed to safely release internal pressure (gases) if the battery overheats.
CID is a mechanical switch that permanently disconnects the electrical connection if the internal pressure exceeds the safety limit. Whereas a PTC limits the current flows and limits overheating when the temperature rises.

Our NBS-built lithium cylindrical cells are built with external protection circuitry that keeps the battery voltage from going too high (over-charging) or too low (over-use) that the battery will cut out when completely dead at 2.5V. Although even with this protection, you must use a Li ion/ LiPoly constant-current charger to recharge them at a rate of 1 Amp or less.
