Can a Deep Cycle Battery Start an Engine?
A flat starter battery has a way of making the spare battery look very useful. The cables fit. The voltage matches. The deep cycle battery may even turn the engine over.

The case should be checked first. Swelling, cracks, leaking fluid or unusual heat means the battery should stay disconnected. Charger compatibility matters too. A lithium battery cannot be dropped into every starting system simply because it reads 12 volts.
No improvised connection should bypass fuses, battery switches or the equipment manual. A rushed start is not worth damaged wiring.
